Abstract:
What this paper focuses on is the intriguing connection between the interpersonal dimensions of
human dwelling and journeying as experienced in the most touching plots written by Italian American
women. It tries to situate the intricate and interdependent approaches in which the concepts of female self-construction
of identity, home, inner and outer wandering function, offering a key to understand the
ambiguity and often contradictory feelings of attachment and separation within Italian American female
writing on migration.
